Mr Olusegun Odunola, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Ijebu North East Local Government on Wednesday said that the council had provided over 7,000 free eye glasses for children in primary and secondary in the council.
Odunola stated this while defending the councils 2020 January to June budget performance before the members of Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by Hon. Akeem Balogun.
The chairman also explained that the council during the period under review, had constructed collapsed culvert at Igbesa, Okeyejo road and had also constructed single cell at Imegun.
He listed non availability of fund, shortage of staff as some of the challenges facing the local government in terms of performance.
The chairman also stated that uncooperative attitude of the public on collection of revenue was also a major factor.
Defending the performance of Ijebu Ode local government, Mr Olugbenga Olugbile, the Transition Committee Chairman, said that the council had graded roads in various wards in the council.
Olugbile noted that the council had constructed 20 Open Stalls at local government Abattoir and had also produced 500 Broilers at the local government quarters, Oke -Owa in Ijebu Ode.
The chairman explained that the council had provided protective materials to combat COVID -19 in all the local government health facilities.
He listed lack of functional vehicles for Internal Revenue Generation as a major challenge, saying that the low revenue recorded during the period under review was as a result of socio economic effects of corona virus
The house of assembly also appraised the budget performance of Ijebu North local government area.
