Ogun assembly passes public procurement, state statistics amendment bills


 The Ogun House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Ogun Public Procurement (Amendment) law, 2020 and the State Statistics (Amendment) law,  2020.

The bills were passed during plenary in Abeokuta presided over by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo( APC–Ifo1).

Mr Olakunle Sobukanla (APC – Ikenne),  Chairman,  House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, had presented the reports of his committee separately on the two bills .

Sobukanla, thereafter, moved the motion for the adoption of the reports which were seconded by Solomon Osho (APC -Remo North) and Oludaisi Elemide (APC -Odeda) respectively and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.

The motion for the third reading of the bills was later moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sherif (APC -Ado Odo Ota 1) , seconded by Messers  Ganiyu Oyedeji ( APM -Ifo 11 and Ajayi Lateefat (APM -Yewa South). 

Mr Deji Adeyemo,  the Clerk of the Assembly,  thereafter, took the third reading of the bills.

Responding, the speaker, directed that the clean copy of the bills be forwarded to the Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

Oluomo pointed out that the passage of the two bills were part of the assembly’s quest at ensuring accountability, transparency and prudency especially in the administration of funds coming into government’s coffers .
He stated that it would enhanced the socio-economic development of the state.
