Eight workers of Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta have tested positive for COVID-19.
The affected staff consisted of Medical Doctors, Nurses and an Administration staff.
The medical center spokesperson, Segun Orisajo disclosed this in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Friday.
Orisajo stated that the affected staffs were part of the team which had contact with a two and half years old coronavirus patient currently receiving treatment at the Centre’s Isolation ward.
He explained that, the COVID-19 status of the affected staffs was detected during the round tracing carried out by the hospital infection control team.
He said “The covid-19 positive status of the affected staff was detected during the round of contact tracing carried out by the hospital Infection Control Team.
“Nonetheless, none of the staff had so far showed the symptoms of corona virus”.
Meanwhile, the Medical Director, Musa Olomu maintained that the affected staffs have been told to proceed on self isolation.
Medical Director expressed confidence that the affected staffs would soon return to their duty.
He reiterated his assurance over the safety of the Centre, both for the workers and patients.
