Two passersby were on Saturday confirmed dead while another sustained injuries in a multiple accident at Toll-Gate in Sango-Ota,Ogun.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesman, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE ) confirmed the incident in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi said that the accident happened about 12.29 p.m.
He said that a Mack tanker with no registration number, coming from Lagos, lost control due to brake failure and rammed into a MACH articulated vehicle.
According to him, the registration number of the articulated vehicle is AAA 448 XJ, while the third vehicle, another articulated vehicle is marked GN-1276.
He said that the victims, who were bystanders, comprised of two male adults who died, while the female adult sustained various degrees of injuries.
“Learnt the red containarised truck which caused the fatal crash was inbound Lagos from Sango, when it experienced a break failure, veered off it’s lane into the outbound section and collided with a Dangote truck and a tanker and two male passers-by, who died on the spot and one person injured.
“However, the driver of the accidented truck ran away while the accidented vehicles have been deposited at the FRSC Office at toll gate..
“It would be recalled that on Wednesday, 20th May, 2020, 2 lives were also lost in a fatal accident at the same spot,” he said.
He said that the deceased had been deposited at Ifo General Hospital mortuary while the injured taken to General Hospital, Ota.
