COVID -19 lockdown : Ogun speaker donates food items to constituency


 Mr Olakunle Oluomo,  the Speaker,  Ogun House of Assembly has distributed food items to members of his constituency to cushion the effect of the lockdown occassioned by the Coronavirus pandemic. 

Oluomo,  speaking to newsmen on Friday  after the donation, noted that the lockdown was in the best interest of the citizens,  saying it was the best way to avoid the spread of the COVID -19.

The speaker , representing Ifo 1 state constituency, explained that  bags of rice were given to 17 Community Development Committee (CDC) and some selected indigenes in ifo community and the constituency as a whole.

He added that other relevant groups also benefited from the gesture. 

Oluomo stated that he had been able to take care of the aged and the vulnerable too in the distribution of food items 

The speaker also  added that through a committee comprising of major stakeholders, he was able to give 1, 200 people a pack of food that would be enough for a day.

” If i can not  feed them everyday,  I am  happy I have God’s grace to do it at least  for few days of the lockdown, we have not stopped the distribution as we do this mostly on daily basis.

“Sincerely, I did not bother my head about people criticising my effort, because I know I have done my best in the circumstance according to my capability, I feel humbled as well by appreciation shown by some,” he said. 

The speaker appealed to well to do people in various communities to help  the needy, saying that government or political office holders could not do it alone. 

 He appreciated Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s effort so far in ensuring that the stimulus package  put in place reached the people it meant for across the state.
