Three persons were confirmed dead on Wednesday in an accident around Obada Oko area in Abeokuta .
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi noted that the accident involved a truck marked AGL 535 XW , a Nissan car with taxi colour with registration number TRE 150 YJ and a Toyota Corolla car marked ABB 984 TF.
He explained that the accident was caused by the driver of the Corolla car who drove against traffic.
“According to eye witness , the truck was coming inbound Abeokuta on its right lane when suddenly the Corolla car driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law appeared from no where facing the the truck headlong.
“But in an attempt to avoid an head on collision with the car , the truck driver swerved to the other lane , crossed the median and hit the Nissan car with taxi colour coming from Abeokuta.
“The truck ran over the taxi car killing three of the six passengers onboard immediately while three others sustained various degrees of injuries ,” he said.
He added that the driver of the Corolla car escaped along side the truck driver.
The TRACE spokesman stated that the corpses of the deceased were deposited at State Hospital, Ijaye while the injured were taken to same Hospital and Federal Medical Center (FMC) , Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi commisserated with the family of the deceased while admonishing motorists to avoid route violation because of its attendant consequences.
