A professor once submitted that for real development to occur, it is important to go to people, sit with them, eat with them, know what they want and gently develop them through what they know because no nation can talk about genuine development when the leaders only bombard people with development information, without giving much attention to mental development.
Lamide Lawal, popularly and politically known as (LL), the newly appointed Special Assistant (SA) on Youth Affairs to Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun expressed his delight to see good number of youth leaders at the development-oriented meeting.
It was a gathering of who is who in the Youth Constituency in Ogun State at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, M. K. O Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta on Friday 24th of January, 2020.
The meeting as convened by Mr. Akanni Oladimeji Balogun, popularly known as (AOB) of Generation Next was centered around forming a common front for the Youth Constituency and to bring to an end, the perceived crisis between the Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Affairs, Com. Olamide Lawal and Com. Rasheed Aroboto.
Rasheed Aroboto, Lamide’s political counterpart, in his grudges-free words said clearly that he has no grudges against the appointment of SA and as well have nothing against the Ogun State government decision.
He also commented on the open letter, written recently to tackle the Governor’s aide appointment and the decision of Dapo Abiodun. “And concerning the recently circulated open letter whose content centred on the disapproval of L.L’s appointment, He said “I know nothing about it. In fact, on many occasions, I’ve prevented the circulation of some negative open letters that I felt could disturb the peace of the state. Olamide is my good friend, and I believe we all have different followers, who knows, the letter could have even come from LL’s followers. My advise to LL is to ensure that he performs his duties as expected in office, and as well know how to handle hearsay carefully.” Aroboto concluded.
Honourable Oladimeji described the newly appointed SA to the Governor on Youth Affairs as someone who carries people along in decision making and implementation.
In his own contributions, the immediate past Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter applauded the appointment of Comrade Lawal and encourage other stakeholders to support him. His words “I congratulate SA again, I know many people are fit to be the SA, however, only one person can be crowned a king, since we can’t all be the SA, we should all support the appointed person dearly, without allowing any crack in the wall for the sake of today and the future. Information is important, people must have access to right information at the right time.” Adeleke Adebanjo opinionated.
He concluded on the premise that the SA should have a result-oriented, positive crew, for the purpose of achieving a successful administration.
Without mincing words, Honourable Ogunpola in his own comment said LL has been appointed SA on Youths Affairs, four months before the public announcement of his appointment. He stressed the fact that LL and Aroboto have no problem. He later suggested that APC youths should consult political leaders for proper enlightenment, on whether to merge APC Youths Wing and APC Youths League.
Other Stakeholders in attendance also reposed their confidence in Comrade Lawal and promised to give him maximum support.
In line with the position of Aroboto and Ogunpola, the SA Youth says, “I want to firstly appreciate everyone for this show of love and assure you that I won’t let you down. On the issue of Aroboto, I have no problem with him. I believe no position is worth dying for. My mind is pure to him and I have nothing against him either. I could recall the day he brought a letter where he was seeking for my support to be the APC State Youth leader, I signed the letter without looking at its content, which actually showed that my mind is pure with him and i have nothing against him.” Comrade Lawal concluded.
Among the Youth Stakeholders in attendance were the State Chairman of Ogun State Youth Council, Mr AbdulJabar Ayelaagbe, Mr. Debo Aroboto Rasheed, Abiola Odetola of Aktive Network, Com Alaseyori of DASSF etc
