NSCDC boss, Amosun’s commissioner indicted in students looming crisis

Students under the umbrella of the National Association of Ogun State (Naoss) has indicted the state commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) over his alleged involvement in students related crisis.
The  indigenous students of Ogun state pointed the accusing fingers at the NSCDC boss on Monday during a press conference held at the state secretariats of the state Nigeria Union of Journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Speaking at the conference, the President of the association, Ogunrombi Gbemileke called on the Commandant General of the NSCDC,  Abdullahi Muhammadu to probe the allegation before things go worse.
The Students alleged that the dou of the state NSCDC boss Everestus Obiyo     and the Provost of the college in the state CC Racheal Awosusi are in connivance with an opposition party in the state to create a parallel national  leadership for the indigenous students of the state with the aim to fomenting incessant trouble in the state
Also fingered in the Crisis was the Commissioner for Youths and Sport during the former administration,  Mr Afolabi Afuape,  adding that he is also one of the persons behind the said crisis.
His words, “When we were contacted immediately after our election by the APM, we made it clear that we are students leaders and not politicians, moreover we stand for peace and not in the opposite.
“Barely one week after our refusal, our Comrades in one of the States owned schools in Ogun east notified us of the move of the party to sponsor a group with the sum of N5,000,000 with the aim of creating unrest in the state under the disguise of students leadership.
“But it became more worrisome, when we gathered that, the Ogun State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Everestus Obiyo, has been bought over by the APM against his duty as an ambassador of peace to drive their plans home.
“When we heard of the involvement of the NSCDC in the evil move, we wrote a letter to the Governor titled: TREAT TO PEACE IN OGUN and copied the NSCDC boss and received by the command on 24th of July, which we are in possession of the said duly received copy of the letter.
“But the moves of the evil doers had taken a more dangerous dimension now as the said instruments of unrest were housed within the premises of the NSCDC college along the State secretariat last Saturday for their parallel convention in the state. Meanwhile that college is headed by CC Racheal Awosusi.
The students however added that, if the National Commandant fails to intervene in the said issue, the association will work hand in glove with it mother body, NANS and lead a protest against the security apparatus nationally.
“We as Comrades are unrepentant in our ways and as a result, we are not afraid of their antics but finds it as a duty to expose evil doers in the state.
“We however call on the Commandant general of the NSCDC,  Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu to with a matter of urgency probe the Ogun state Commandant and the provost of the NSCDC COLLEGE at okemosan, on there reasons to have turned to a tool to infiltrate the legitimate leadership of the students body by the desperate APM,   before things get worse in the state.
“Failure to take immediate action on this, shall leave us with no other option than to mobilize NAOSSites and as well call on our mother body NANS,  to join us in this struggle.” He added
In his response,  the spokesperson of the Corp,  DSP Oguntegbe Joseph debunk the rumour saying they gave their facility to the students on an official request.
He said, “I want to believe you know we are a para-military federal government organization and we are saddled with responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of the people irrespective of ethnic and political belief.
“Such allegation must have been concocted because we received a duly signed letter from the association of NAOSS dated 18th July, 2019 intimating the college of change of venue of their election and the reason to use the college.
“Having received the letter, the provost consulted the National Headquarters who gave us the approval to allow the students organized their election. We were unaware of any factionalisation or previous election held by another group ,Nobody brought it to our notice.”
