Tension rocked Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) hall, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital yesterday during the National Association of Ogun State Student (NAOSS) election.
The outgoing President of the association, Comrade Peter Adejobi while addressing media on the results of the election claimed that he remains the National President of the association , saying the election was not well conducted.
He maintained that the studentship of the self acclaimed elected President, Ogunrombi Gbemileke popularly known as O’Leke is questionable.
Moreover, the election was tie as both O’Leke and Ennywealth scored 32 votes respectively while KingZee scored 30 votes but they used the thugs to intimidate the electoral chairman to void one vote from ennywealth.
“Also, there was no proper accreditation of the electorates and ballot papers which was printed were not allowed to be used. These acts are unconstitutional and bad precedent for this noble association.
He said the environment for the election was not conducive for the electorates, adding that NANS national PRO, Adeyemi Azeez mobilised thugs in their hundreds to intimidate and destabilize the election processing.
According to him, “There was a threat to my life (Adejobi) by the cultists that Adeyemi brought to the election ground.
He maintained that there was no proper accreditation of chapters President and aspirants agents.
He claimed that the accreditation of Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye who served as an agent to O’Leke was not supposed to be done due to the fact that he is an outgone student and the association constitution did not allow that.
Adejobi also explained that None of the past NAOSS executives were allowed to monitor the election process.
His words “I hereby implored all the security agencies, media personnel in the state to come to our aid and allow justice to prevail.
We hereby call for the election to be rescheduled and held at the DSS office to ensure security of the Senators and aspirants and also allow free democratic will of the people to prevail.
