Today, His Royal Highness, the Kegbo of Atikori Oba Ibitoye and the good people of Atikori honoured Aremo Ebumawe of Ago-lwoye, Rt. Honourable Segun Adekoya with a chieftancy title, the Otunba Bobadara of Atikori land.
Atikori rolled out its Gbedu drums in the appreciation and commendation of the unprecedented work Aremo Ebumawe is doing across the ljebu land as the Rt. Honourable representing the Federal Constituency in the green Chamber.
The ancient City and one of the five Cities that made up the Orimolusi’s Kingdom added its fertility leaves to the feathers on Aremo’s cap. Òtúnba lóyè, Òtúnba Bóbadárà; ewé oyè á mó’rí, tímótímó l’etí mó’rí, tìmòtìmò lalámò ń gún amò
The essence of my note however is not to eulogise the Honourable for his testimonial that candidly and apparently qualifies him for the title but to appreciate the good people of Ijebu Igbo for their forthrightness and their ability to rise above parochialism when it comes to appraisal, assessment, commendation or condemnation.
I am not surprised, the Atikori are not Janus, they simply have no time for both to blame or both to commend; you are doing it well, they honour you; you are not doing well, they ignore you; they simply have no idle time to pet or pamper indolence or indulgence.
Great men and women they are, what do we expect? Àtìkòrì, kó o gbó, ké é gbó; awíkoko lójú olórò, tólórò ba gbó; kínni baba olórò lè se. You live your cognomen Atikori, I hail una! I hail your gut!!! Honour belongs to people like you and not to the ambidextrous; worthier than gold is the title form your Palace. Aremo will for sure keep this jealously for life.
Thank you Ìjèbú-lgbó, thank you Atikori, thank you Kegbo; we can take it to bank that next will be combing from Bèje Rókùn himself. Àpáta gàùngà níwájú ilé olódí, olódì jí kò jé fi orí gba. We are truly proud of you.
Thank you Atikori, thank you Kabiyesi; eégún ò dé’lè yí rí, lba ló mégún wogbó lrémo; èrù jè-jè-jè-jè lónà Atìkòrì…love and hugs.
