United Nations-Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), has appointed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigeria’s foremost real estate firm, Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Ambassador (Dr) Babatunde Adeyemo, as International Peace Advocate.

Adeyemo disclosed this to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday, April 22, saying the ceremony leading to the formal presentation of the certificate of appointment by the UN – POLAC will be performed on Friday, April 26, at the Airport Hotel Lagos.

The real estate entrepreneur said the appointment formed part of the events the UN – POLAC will use to join other UN Agencies to commemorate this year’s edition of International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace’ which is commemorated annually around the world on April 24

A Letter of Appointment signed by the Director-General, UN-POLAC, Prof. Halo Eton, and made available to The Daily Crucible read in part, “In line with the UN General Assembly’s declaration, UN – POLAC joins other UN Agencies to commemorate the ‘International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace.’ This day is commemorated annually on April 24 and seeks to reaffirm the UN Charter and its principles of resolving disputes among countries through peaceful means. The day also acknowledges the use of multilateral decision making and diplomacy in achieving peaceful resolutions to conflicts among nations.

“As part of the event for the celebration, there will be appointment of International Peace Advocates…to individuals of proven integrity, who exhibit the ideals of living for the sake of others and commit themselves to promoting universal moral values, strong family life, social harmony, interreligious and ethnic cooperation and the culture of peace.”

The Daily Crucible reports that United Nations POLAC Foundation was established as an international autonomous institution following the UN General Assembly with its aim and objective to select high profile individuals across the globe to propagate peace building and assist in the implementation of UNDP programmes initiatives.

The latest International Peace Advocate appointee is the brain behind Pelican Valley Estate Laderin, where unusual homes happen as well as Pelican Valley’s Brief Estate, Pelican Ecostay Apartments – an emerging Smart City, and Pelican Greenish Acre Farm Estate – all three located at the Kobape corridor of Ogun State.

The Ogun real Estate poster boy was said to have practice real estate business for over a decade, without a single court case or dispute on personal, company or land matters.

An ECOWAS Youth Ambassador and an Anti – Corruption Ambassador, Adeyemo is also the promoter of Okó Opó Foundation a non -governmental Organisation that caters for widows and the downtrodden members of the society.

Past recipients of the prestigious International Peace Advocate appointment from the United Nations POLAC Foundation include the quartet of Managing Director/CEO of Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS) and Group Managing Director/CEO of Temple Group Limited, Prince Segun Obayendo, who pioneered computerised vehicle inspection services in Nigeria, the Managing Director and CEO at Harley and Rainbow Specialised Laboratories and Diagnostics, Ademolu Owoyele, an accomplished Business and Healthcare Development professional, the Chief Executive Officer of Kenyon International West Africa Limited, an oil services firm, Victor Ekpenyong, an energy expert and an Industrialist, Tijjani James, who is the group head of Commercial Services, Notore Chemical Industries Plc.
James hails from terrorism – ravaged Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and he is known for playing a pivotal role in mobilising efforts towards rebuilding schools and other basic infrastructure brought to ruin by rampaging insurgents in the area years ago.
