Brig-Gen Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd) Osun State Commander of Amotekun Corps has lauded the Nigerian Police for organising a security training/workshop for security operatives in the state on community policing.
Adewimbi gave the appreciation during the one day training tagged “Effective Community Policing, Panacea to Sustained Internal Security”.
He said he finds it necessary to register some of the Osun Amotekun operatives to attend the one day zonal security workshop on community oriented policing, in line with the corps’ pursuit for effective community policing.
Adewimbi extolled the office of the IGP, the Department of Training and Development of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja and the partnering consultant for organizing such a laudable programme.
He also applaud D.I.G Enoh Ocheja of the Zone 11 command, Osogbo, and his officers for being very warm hosts, specially praising the efforts of the D.I.G for finding time to give lecture and also answer questions from participants and guests
He said, “I see a solid packed synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, particularly in this zone of the country.”
He reiterated that assisting the police and other security agencies, by systematically gathering, evaluating and analysing data and information, which is afterwards converted to actionable intelligence for tactical operations and strategic goals of securing the state and nation, remains paramount to the Osun Amotekun.
In his remarks, Osun Amotekun Deputy Commander, Benedict Akanni, asserted that, the Corps will always be ready to send its operatives to attend such educative events, stressing that it will further aid the knowledge of the operatives for better community policing.
The Police said the training was in furtherance of the Department of Training and Development of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in partnership with a private security consulting firm, Galaxy Promotions to bring community policing awareness to the regions.
