Osun: Amotekun arrests man for alleged  possession of illegal firearms

Retired Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the State Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps on Monday, said the corps arrested one Oyelade Lukman, 27, for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms.

Adewinmbi in a statement said the suspect was arrested at his resident in Ajijola Anabi Area, Ede, Osun State, on Sunday

He said the suspect was apprehended after a complaint was lodged against him, at the Amotekun Ede Command, by residents of the area. 

“The suspect was arrested in the middle of the night after a complaint was lodged against him by the residents of the area for having firearms in his possession and partaking in illegal activities in the area.

“Operatives of Amotekun swung into action and arrested him with illegal firearms in his home.

“Firearms found in his possession included: two long local barrel guns, One locally made iron revolver, one cut to size 7 rounds barrel gun, one cut to size 4 rounds locally made revolver and one locally iron-made cut to size double barrel gun.” he said

Adewinmbi said during interotigation, the suspect confessed to partaking in nefarious activities in the area but stated that the firearms found with him were kept in his possession by one Taye Fumble, a notorious thug in Ede.

He said the suspect and the exhibits had been handed over to the police for further Investigation and prosecution.

He thereafter called on residents of the state to continue to work with security operatives and proved them with information that would help curb nefarious activities and apprehended criminals
