The police command in Ogun says it has arrested 25-year-old woman, Temitope Adetanju for allegedly beaten and inserted a piece of firewood in the private area of a 12-year-old girl for stealing.
SP Omolola Odutola, the Spokesperson, of the command, stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Thursday night.
Odutola noted that the girl was alleged to have stolen items including biscuits worth ₦200, Milo sachet worth ₦150, and Mr Fruit worth ₦300.
The police spokesperson explained that the incident occured on Tuesday at about 11:00a.m.
She stressed that the Divisional Police Officer , Obada Oko had received an information that a 12-year-old girl from Isewo Obada Oko was severely beaten and had a piece of firewood inserted into her private area by her guardian.
” On receipt of the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer deployed the Officer in Charge of Juvenile Welfare Center, to apprehend the suspect.
” Upon her arrest, it was discovered that the victim had stolen items including biscuits worth ₦200, Milo worth ₦150 and Mr. Fruit worth ₦300,” she said.
Odutola said that the suspect admitted to committing the crime, saying that investigation was ongoing.
