Residents of Imala Community in ward 14 Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State are appealing to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to address the deplorable state of roads in their community.

Chairman of Oke-Ogun Area CDC in the local government, Prince Adebayo Mukaila Adeoye during an interview in Imala on Saturday emphasized the community’s decades-long struggle for road improvements, adding that they are in dire need of intervention

Mukaila added that the 7km Imala road, linking to Imeko, has deteriorated over the years, posing significant challenges and dangers to residents and impacting economic activities.

He stated that the roads played a crucial role in facilitating trade and transportation of agricultural produce, such as the renowned Imala garden egg, known even in Lagos.

His words ” The deteriorating road infrastructure not only hampers economic growth but also impedes the aspirations of youths eager to engage in agriculture.

“Many graduates, intending to contribute to the state and national agricultural sector, are deterred by the poor road conditions, hindering their prospects.”

Chairman of Ile Ode Oke Iroko in the community Mr. Akanni Ogundeji, highlighted how the lack of proper road infrastructure hinders business development and government initiatives in the area.

He emphasized that improved road networks would attract more investments and enhance productivity.

He lamented the neglect by the government, despite the community’s contributions in supporting Governor Abiodun’s re-election bid.

He urged Governor Abiodun to prioritize the rehabilitation of the Imala road to alleviate their plight and foster development.

“Our Governor is a listening person,we believe in him and I believe he would do something as soon as possible.”
