Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun state has pointed accusing fingers to the state government and the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Party Ado-Odo/Ota constituency, Hon. Tunji Akinosi for breaching agreement on peace accord leading to several attacks and attempted kidnap of its chieftains and supporters during campaign rallies particularly at Ado Odo community on Thursday.

In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Akinloye Bankole, he noted that Akinosi and APC in the state plotted the hoodlums that laid ambush and unleashed mayhem on its convoy and its members in Ado-odo in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area, while returning from the successful campaign rally on Thursday.

Bankole explained that “the campaign rallies of the gubernatorial candidate of PDP in Ogun state, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu visited Ado-Ota, local government yesterday and was joyously received by the people of Igbesa, Agbara, Ado and other neighbouring communities until when some hoodlums ambushed and attacked the convoy on our way out of the venue”.

“In a panic way to express their fear over our growing political prominence, the APC thugs targeted our convoy again yesterday, our deputy governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade narrowly escaped after smashing his car, security officers and several supporters sustained injuries, while other branded vehicles were damaged”, Bankole narrated.

“It is a cleared fact that APC is bitter because of the rousing endorsement of our party’s candidates by the good people of Ogun state, and the boost of our campaign as the main opposition party in the state, Bankole expressed.

Bankole noted that the Ado-Odo attack on PDP campaign train will the third incident since political campaigns started in Ogun State.

“We have signed a peace accord to ensure violence free campaigns and that is where we are as a law abiding party with good members, unfortunately, the APC has continued to implore and plot some miscreants and thugs to continuously attack and distrupt our campaign rallies”, Bankole further noted.

“We seize this opportunity to alert security agencies, the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Directorate of State Security Services and the National Intelligence Agency, to checkmate the evil machinations of APC political thugs disrupting our peaceful campaign rallies, to avoid bloodshed in the state”, Bankole added.

“We also request the security agencies to use their good offices to nip other evil plot in the bud, to curb the excesses of the enemies of peace in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole”, he concluded.
