The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has pledged provision of adequate security throughout the forthcoming Nigeria Public Relations Week slated for Monday 22nd to Friday 26th April, 2024 in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Alamutu gave the assurance while addressing a team from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter, led by the Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, who paid him a courtesy visit at the state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The police commissioner, who acknowledged the rebranding strides of the Institute nationwide, assured of adequate security provision at the venue, each of the hotels where delegates would lodge as well as other places of activities.

He applauded the organising committee for giving consideration to students of tertiary institutions in the programmes lined up for the Week, noting that such opportunity would give direction to the younger ones on the appropriate path to channel their energy.

Speaking earlier, Boye highlighted series of activities lined up for the week-long event that will attract delegates from across the country to include students’ engagement, interaction with traditional rulers on how to leverage on public relations to develop their domains as well as the installation of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the Grand Patron of the Institute in the state.

Other activities, according to the Ogun NIPR Chairman, are induction of new members, annual general meeting, visitation to some tourist centres like Olumo Rock, Kuti Heritage, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library and Ogun State Agro-cargo Airport, among others.

She added that each night of event has relaxation activities for delegates, part of which is cultural night, featuring adire runway as well as closing party which would attract the presence of the wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, hence adequate security arrangement is very germane to the successful hosting of the Week.

Boye also used the occasion to commend the state police command for its various public enlightenment programmes, media engagement activities and other efforts aimed at keeping inhabitants of the state safe in the midst of daunting security challenges in the country.

Highlight of the courtesy visit was the presentation of the Compendium of Public Relations Professionals in Ogun State to the Police Commissioner who, in turn, appreciated the innovations being made by the Chapter.
