A group, Ogun West Grassroots Alliance has sought for massive support from Yewa/Awori descendants for the governorship ambition of Barr. Biyi Otegbeye, candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).
OgunToday reports that traditional rulers in the zone had recently declared support for the second term of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Bolaji Adeniji, Convener of the group , who addressed a news conference in Abeokuta on Wednesday appealed to traditional rulers and indigenes of Ogun West to rally round Otegbeye to achieve his ambition.
Adeniji called on Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and paramount Ruler of Yewaland and also Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota and Council Head of Awori Monarchs to support their son, Otegbeye.
” We want them to rally their colleagues, chiefs and subjects to support their son BOT; for there is no better time than now when only one Ogun Westerner is on the ballot to be so elected.
“We likewise call on the Ogun West political class and the electorate in their diversities to reconsider extant loyalties and situations in different political parties and convey a global support across all divide towards the realization of our aspiration in 2023.
“There is no better time than now and we do not have to defer till many years’ time (with no guarantees), what we can strive to achieve today,” he said.
Adeniji urged the ADC governorship candidate to extend his campaign to other regions of the state.
“We hereby unanimously endorse him to be the next governor of Ogun State from May 29th, 2023. However, we use this medium to call on him to stretch his hands across to stakeholders from Egba, Ijebu and Remo; so that they can join hands with him to make this dream a reality.
“The interest of every constituent part of the state must be protected in the incoming administration and that must begin with how he holds them all from now and jointly navigate to victory.
“Biyi Otegbeye has come with unstained character, unblemish integrity and a person noted of forthrightness, excellence in all sphere of life.
“Without prejudice of personalities, Otegbeye is far above his competitors in the gubernatorial field today,” he said.
