Obasanjo’s Media Aide gets 2nd term as CDA Chairman in Ogun


The Special Assistant on Media to the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi has been re-elected as the Chairman of Ajagbohun Central Community Development Association (CDA), Obantoko area of Odeda Local Government of Ogun State. 

Others re-elected unopposed for the second term tenure include, Mr. Lawal O.A (Vice chairman), Mrs. Adewunmi B.O. (Secretary), Folorunsho K.T (Asst. Secretary), Mrs F.A Johnson (Social Secretary) and Deaconess E. F Oladeji (Women Rep.)

Members joining the Executives on a fresh mandate were Prof. Olufemi Idowu (Legal Adviser), Dr. Kehinde M. (Financial Secretary), Mr. Adebola Olowolagba (Treasurer), Mr. Babatunde Faleti (Youth Rep), and Mr. Ayanyemi T. (PRO).

Others were Adisa Faneye (Welfare Officer), Mr. Ayo Kumoye (Auditor), Ex Officio I, Lawal O.O and Mr. Kayode Jibona as Ex Officio II member.

The exercise, which was held at Ajagbohun area of the state at the weekend, had in attendance, the leadership of the Ilupeju/Obantoko Area Community Development Council (ACDC), led by the Chairman, Comr. A.B Ogunseye.

The ACDC Chairman, Comr. Ogunseye commended the community for the peaceful change of her executives, noting that it was far from others with petitions reaching his Office.

Electoral Committee Chairman, Elder S.I Womiloju said that the 3-member Committee fulfilled all requirements, including allowing qualified members to go for another position having used two terms in a position in line with the provisions of the Community Development Association Constitution. 

Akinyemi in his acceptance speech, thanked God for the developmental progress made and peaceful coexistence recorded among members in just concluded three years tenure.

He also thanked members of the association for the trust and confidence repose on him to continue in Office as the Chairman, assuring that, “together we’ll take the CDA to the next level.”

On Community Development Association status in the state, Akinyemi noted with pride that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has changed the face of Government/Community Relations.

According to him, “I think it has never been this good. Take a look at our road, we wrote (CDAs along Ajagbohun, Itesi Ajabe, Somorin road) to the Governor appealing for extension from Kemta-Idi Aba Housing Estate/Ilugun Road and in a record time, it was approved. The development is unprecedented.

“Though, the road is yet to be completed, but, as it is, the Government is Happy, Residents are happy. We only want to urge the governor not to relent in the completion of the road. This is how it should be. Government/Community Relations should be mutually benefitting,” the Chairman said.

Akinyemi prayed for the souls of members that lost their lives in the just concluded period, including Elder Olaniyan A.O, Mr. Sanyaolu Matemilola and Chief Akinbo J. A and he equally thanked Elders; Pastor Ose, Rev. Adeleye S.T, Mr. Ajani Okunsokan for their advisory roles all the time.

Ogunseye, who was accompanied to the event by the ACDC Secretary and Social Secretary respectively, formally inaugurated the new executives to the admiration of the House.

Pastor Adeniyi Ose and Mr Ajani Okunsokan subsequently offered prayers for the success of the new leadership and for peace to reign supreme in the community, State and Nigeria as a whole.
