Lions Club 404-B3 distributes 3,000 free medicated eye glasses in 2023

A Non- Governmental Organisation, Lions Club International District 404-B3 Nigeria, says
it distributed 3,000 free medicated eye glasses to people in 2023.


Mr Olayiwola Fadairo, the District Governor , disclosed this on Wednesday at a news conference organised ahead of the district’s 1st convention, fixed for Thursday and Friday in Abeokuta.
The Convention is tagged EGBA 2024 with the theme: Rebirth of Service Passion.


Fadairo noted that the district from July 1, 2023 when it came on board, over 3,000 people from various communities in Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ota, as well as Lagos had benefited from the free screening and distribution of eye glasses.
He explained that the organisation still had more eye glasses left for distribution.


“So far we have distributed over 3,000 glasses and we still have more left for distribution.
“This glasses was given to us free of charge by a recycling eye glasses company in the United States of America, with the help of one of our past district governor.


“So, we receive the consignment of over 6,000 eye glasses and so far so good over 3,000 have been distributed in various axis of our districts, which include, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ota and Lagos.


“The district project for this year is the continuation of free donation of eye glasses, we are not only given the eye glasses, we will examine and screen their eyes before given our the glasses,”he said.
He also disclosed that apart from the distribution of medicated eye glasses, the lions have impacted their support to various community in their various region.


The governor also said Cancer awareness campaign would begin February with a lot of empowerment programme.

Some of the Lions Club’s global causes include reducing the prevalence of diabetes , improving the quality of life for those diagnosed and prevent avoidable blindness.


” Improve the quality of life of blind and visually impaired people; and ensure that all members of the community have access to nutritious food.
