The Head of Mass Communication department, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Dr Dele Odunlami has tasked news room staff of Ogun State Television (OGTV) on modern trends in news writing, editing and news production.
This was the crux of a workshop organised by the OGTV chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State at the station’s conference room on Tuesday.
Dr Odunlami who was a staff of the people’s telly before switching to lecturing tutored the participants on series of common grammatical mistakes in broadcasting and general use of English with a charge on them to continue being professional in the discharge of their duties.
Earlier, the chairman of the chapel, Bisi Alarape in her welcome address said the motive was simply to enhance the productivity of the members as well as widen thier horizon.
Also speaking, the acting General Manager, Tunde Kassim represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies, Dipo Ogunfowora commended the union for deeming it necessary to organise such a workshop when it’s mostly needed for the staff to learn and unlearn.
The manager, News and Current Affairs, Biodun Alabi believes the workshop will go a long in upgrading the professionalism of the staffers particularly in the area of news writing, captioning, editing and production.
