The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has Described Late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, “Ijaya” as a remarkable leader, steadfast advocate for her people and an unwavering voice for justice and equity.
Gov Dapo Abiodun who made this known in his personal Tribute at the Fidau Prayer for the late lawmaker added that in her years of public service, she exemplified dedication, strength and an unshakable commitment to the progress of Ogun state and Nigeria at large.
The Gov who was represented by his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that as the Hon. Member representing the Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North federal constituency in the House of Representatives, she was a shining light for effective representation, who demonstrated diligence and courage in advancing policies that uplifted not just her constituents, but the whole country.
Abiodun opined that the passing of Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga was a painful reminder of the fleeting nature of life, stressing that we should take solace in the knowledge that she lived with purpose and left an indelible mark on governance, leadership and humanity, saying her many contributions will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
The Governor then prayed Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest and provide comfort for her family, friends and all who mourn her loss.
In her own personal message at the Occasion, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele described Late. Hon Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga as a very good friend, confidant and sister who she will sorely miss.
She said “Ijaya” was almost larger than life with her characteristic laughter, warmth, goodwill and kindness which she unreservedly extended to everyone without recluse to social status or standing.
She also extolled her virtues to include selflessness, personal commitment to the growth of her constituents, Ogun State and above all a strong dedication to the overall betterment alongside upliftment of the Women folk not just in Ogun State but across the nation Nigeria.
While also reflecting on her personal memories with Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, The Deputy Governor charged all those present to emulate her life, which was that of Legendary woman who was committed to a life of Leadership and Servitude to humanity.
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, represented by Hon. James Falake, commiserated with members of the families, saying the deceased used her time well, while also describing her as a committed, dogged, caring, dedicated and a loyal honourable member.
In his lecture, Titled ‘Time’ the Grand Chief Imam of Makun kingdom and the Wazeerul Muslimeen of Ogun State, Sheik (Dr) Tajudeen Akolawole Ashaye, said Almighty God has alloted time unto every man on earth, stressing the need to judiciously use the time God has given to us .
He noted that Allah created life and death but our good deeds on earth determines how we would be rewarded by God, saying unless we are righteous, patience, touch lives positively and make quality use of our time on earth, we cannot receive Allah’s reward.
Highlight of the event was the reading from the Holy Quran and prayers for her family.
