The Convener of ALEN-3 Welfare Initiative, Mrs Funmi Baker, has emphasised the need for Non -Governmental organisations and well-meaning individuals to contribute and prioritise welfare and wellbeing of vulnerables in the society.
Mrs. Baker who stressed on this at the 2nd anniversary of ALEN – 3 Welfare Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, held at DLK Event Centre, Abeokuta, on 20th February, 2025, themed “the moral imperative of supporting the less fortunate in our community”, said the initiative is to support the fortune of less privileged so as to create positive change in their lives.
Shs also said the humanitarian initiative is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in the society, particularly the children and aged ones, regardless of their religion, race, and colour.
Contributing, the Chairman of the occasion, Revd.Osunfuyi Osunfisan posited that helping others is by grace and mercy of God, admonishing everyone to see it as a call for the betterment of our state and society at large.
In her keynote address, a seasoned family Physician, Dr. Bajomo Olutope noted that moral obligation of empathy , compassion and love is to help others, and must not be a one-off programme, urged people to extend hands of fellowship to homes, orphanages and people with diseases among others.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretaries, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr Lateef Benson, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi and Forestry, Dr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, respectively, commended the Convener’s efforts towards building a better society, adding that helping others is a divine calling and blessings that others must emulate.
