A motorcyclist, his three passengers and a passerby were on Thursday, crushed to death in a multiple accident around Mowe on Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.
Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun , confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
Oladele explained that the accident happened around 4:50pm and it involved a white Toyota Hiace bus marked WWD 554 XA, black Toyota Camry car marked APP 854 EF and a red Bajaj Motorcycle marked EJG 028 QE.
He noted that the accident was caused by excessive speeding on the part of the Camry car which led to loss of control thereby hitting the motorcycle and the bus.
The sector commander said that 16 people were involved in the crash , 11 male and 5 female adult, saying that one male was injured while five male died on the spot in the crash.
“The suspected causes of the multiple crash was excessive speeding on the part of the car which led to loss of control .
” The motorcycle which was overloaded with four persons including the rider were crushed to death together with another passerby, ” he said.
He added that the deceased had been deposited at Fakoya morgue ,Sagamu while the only injured person was taken to Supreme Global Support Hospital Loburo in Mowe.
Oladele urges motorists to drive carefully on the road, saying that they should consider other road users.
