2019 : Ogun Senatorial Aspirant Promises To Amend NYSC Act , Incorporate Skill Acquisition

A senatorial aspirant in the 2019 general elections under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun, Hon. Kayode Amusan has promised to amend the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act, in order to incorporate skill acquisition into the programme.

Amusan made the promise during his declaration of intention to contest Ogun Central Senatorial District election in 2019 at the party Secretariat, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, on Thursday .

He stated that the area of skill acquisition was still lacking in the country, saying that any nation that lacked skills acquisition would be ruined by unemployment.

Amusan, a two term House of Representatives member, explained that it was necessary to amend the NYSC act so that the unemployed graduate would have alternative source to succeed in life after service.

“I have decided that by the time I get back to the Senate, I am going to work with my other colleagues to re – amend the NYSC act to incorporate skill acquisition into it so that that one year service will now be converted to skill acquisition.

“So that by the time such person finished from NYSC , he already had a degree and also acquired skill, if there is no white collar job, he will use his skill to work for the time been and he can even live with it successfully for life.

“I pray I meet people with same spirit, same way as am thinking so that all these plans can be materialised. We are also going there to support the fight against corruption in the country.

“I have documented all that we are going to execute when we get to the Senate, ” he said.

The senatorial aspirant said that he would ensure that the issue of unemployment was drastically tackled, saying that he would join other colleagues in enacting laws to enhance development.

He assured that the welfare of the people of his Constituency, the state and Nigeria would be his priority , if he emerged as the Senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly.

“We have come to seek your support, blessings, to cooperate with you, do all that is necessary and we assured that we will never let you down.

“We have done it before with the provision of rural electrification, pipe borne water, construction of classroom blocks and massive empowerment for our people. We will do it again, ” he said.

In his remarks, the state party chairman, Sikirulai Ogundele, commended the senatorial aspirant for his dedication to the progress of the party in the state.

Ogundele assured him that he would be accorded all necessary support to win the 2019 Ogun central senatorial election.

He described the aspirant as a credible, trustworthy and God fearing human being, adding that the party members were ready to give him maximum support.

In another development, Amusan was presented an award of recognition by the Lado /Apex Women from Abeokuta South Iyalabake
