Mr Olufemi Falana, a governorship aspirant in Ogun, on the platform of Welfare of Nigeria (WPN), on Saturday , assured that the welfare of the citizens of the state would be the priority of his party, if elected governor.

Falana gave this assurance at the launching of his governorship campaign and foundation, Falana Foundation Cooperative, held at Ogun NUJ Press Center, Iwe Iroyin, in Abeokuta.

He stated that his Foundation was set up to alleviate poverty, create food bank and support small scale enterprise in the state.

The governorship aspirant blamed the previous and present government for not doing well economically and socially to impact the lives of the people positively.

He explained that the institution for social care should be established, saying that it would go a long way in alleviating poverty in the society.

He added that WPN rely on honesty and integrity of the people to win elections, saying that the party was not a money bag party but a grassroot one that believed in the honesty of the people.

“We are not a money bag party, that’s why WPN is different from other parties.

“We rely on the honesty and integrity of the people and Nigerians are not stupid anymore. We are a grassroot party and we are counting on the honesty of the people, ” he said.

Falana stated that free compulsory primary education, affordable social housing and subsidised health care facilities, would be his major cardinal programmes when he become the governor in 2019.

He said his government would implement equal opportunities policy and make it a law, with full right and facilities for disabled people, inclusive of mandatory disability access in public and work places.

“WPN, which I am privileged to serve, and the coming government, which I shall be proud to lead, shall be engaged in the massive task of restoring confidence and stability to Ogun state people.

“I want to assure the people that Welfare Party Of Nigeria (WPN) has come to delivered Ogun State and Nigeria and I promise we will not fail Nigeria if elected into government, ” he said.

In his submission, Mr Bolaji Oyeleke, the National Chairman of the party, explained that the party had come to rescue Nigerians from corrupt politicians

He said that the party had its own recognition and accepted by the general public , adding that they needed to present a credible candidate as the party flag bearers.

“Anyone from the party that wants to occupy any position must be someone that have passion to serve the people and not to use the position to enrich himself, “he said.
