2019 Gubernatorial Election: Ogun APC Passes Vote of Confidence on Akinlade
The Chairman and members of the state Executive Council of Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged total support to Hon. AbdulKabir Adekunle Akinlade, popularly known as (Tripple A’s) for Ogun governorship come 2019.
Acting State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Tajudeen Lemboye, gave the assurance at the party secretariat in Iyana-Moruary, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta
during the official declaration of intention of Hon. Akinlade to be the next governor of the state in 2019.
Lemboye explained that Akinlade had made Ogun State proud at the National Assembly in all areas of life.
The Chairman admitted that the leadership had equally received other governorship aspirants from Ogun West, but urged them to play the game by
the rules and embrace whoever emerged as candidate.
He said the party would always operate an open-door policy and be receptive to all aspirants by treating them fairly.
Lemboye said: “Seven years ago, the governorship race started like this and we had more than 10 aspirants. Amosun joined the race at 11th hour, but as God would have it, he emerged as the party’s candidate and subsequently as Governor.
“Back then, we never knew his mind, but I can tell you categorically today that Amosun is the best governor Ogun State ever had in its 41 years of existence, ” he said.
Speaking at the party’s secretariat, Akinlade, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ogun West, said that he was poised to sustain and improve on Amosun-led government’s mission to rebuild the state.
The legislator recalled that seven years ago, the present governor inherited a state, which battled a battered economy, insecurity, infrastructural decay, adding that Amosun had revived and rebuilt Ogun to become “a peaceful and business-friendly state.
According to him, it took somebody who had the mental capability, trust and confidence like him, to sustain the legacy without being shattered.
Akinlade said: “I have come to seek your blessing because I want to become governor come 2019. I am here to seek the party’s permission to explore the nooks and crannies of the state to intimate people with my ambition and tell them what I will offer the state as governor.
“I believe, I am ably qualified for the position. I have worked closely with the governor and I have learnt a lot from him and so I am qualified and I have the capacity to do it. I want to add that I am a God-fearing person and trustworthy.
“The present achievement and legacy of Amosun should be handled over to the person who has the capacity, trust and confidence because if we fail to,
the legacy may be shattered (God forbids). It is not for me, but it is for the service to our dear state.
The legislator added that as a financial expert, he had identified “more than N1trillion economic potentials” in Ogun which he would explore for the
viability of the state if he became governor.
Akinlade told the party leaders that he would place them at “their rightful positions” if he emerges because “I know where the party belongs and where
it should be.
