Two children were confirmed dead on Saturday while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident involving a Toyota Camry car and a Foton jeep at AP turning, Lenuwa on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi explained that the incident occured at about 1:05pm and was caused by excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Toyota Camry car marked LSR 186 GU.
He noted that the Camry car was inbound Lagos from Sagamu , suddenly lost control and hit the jeep marked FZE 241 LA infront from the rear which made the jeep to also lost control and summersaulted.
The TRACE spokesman explained that eight people were involved in the accident, saying that four people were injured while two children died in the accident.
Akinbiyi added that the vehicles were towed to Sagamu Divisional Police command, while the injured and the deceased kids were taken to Divine Height Hospital, Ibafo in Obafemi Owode local government area if the state.
He commiserated with the families of the two children and urged motoring public to always avoid excessive speeding at all time.
